Release begins: The developers behind the forthcoming Cane Hill Park development in Coulsdon are once again helping to bring a little festive cheer to the town this December. Housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are continuing to jointly donate £2,000 towards the Coulsdon Yulefest, a volunteer-run community event now in its third year which celebrates the switching on of the Christmas lights. The funding from the two housebuilders is welcomed by the organisers but a further £3,000 still needs to be raised in order for the event to cover its costs.

To be held on Saturday 5th December on Brighton Road, Yulefest was set up in 2013 with the sole aim to bring Christmas festivities back to the town of Coulsdon. Set up by a handful of volunteers from local community groups, businesses and residents, it has proved to be a great first two years. This year, as well as Barratt and David Wilson Homes, other contributions have come from Coulsdon Home Hardware, Southern Rail and Woods Jewellers.

Chris Thairs, Festival organiser of Yulefest says: “We are delighted that the developers at the Cane Hill Park development are once again supporting the Coulsdon Yulefest community celebrations. The event is one that is greatly enjoyed by thousands of local residents and it is only through the support of local businesses that it can continue to take place.  We still need £3,000 to make sure the event can run successfully and so we are putting out an appeal for further donations.

“One of the areas that we are looking to raise funds is for the main stage. This would cost in the region of about £2,000. We hope that either through further monetary donations or local companies giving up a few hours of their time in return for local sponsorship, we may be able to make this the biggest and best festive event for Coulsdon yet.”

James Dunne Operations Director for Cane Hill Park comments: “As we approach the launch of our new homes at Cane Hill Park, we are once again proud to be able to support Coulsdon Yulefest. It’s a great community event that is enjoyed by so many local people and hopefully will continue to kick start local festivities for years to come. For both Barratt and David Wilson Homes, as local companies, it is important to put something back into the community and of course we are very much looking forward to the event itself.”

The Yulefest event is to be held on Saturday 5th December 2015, with a switch on Ceremony at 5:30pm. For further information about sponsorship opportunities at Yulefest and to help support the annual event, visit Further details about Cane Hill Park can be found at
