The 80th Annual General Meeting of Purley and Woodcote Residents’ Association (PWRA) will mark the end of an era.  Tarsem Flora steps down as PWRA’s longest-serving chairman after 17 years at the helm of one of the most successful residents’ associations in outer London.

Release begins: One of the most important roles of the PWRA is the protection of the local character of Purley for the benefit of all and in his support for this, Tarsem has been steadfast.

As the founder and chairman of Flora Associates, an international architectural design practice based in West Croydon, Tarsem has forged an impressive career in architecture and landscape design, whilst still making time to be chairman of the PWRA.

During his career Tarsem has developed an interest in flood prevention.  This, he has been able to share with the PWRA and various statutory bodies, taking a dedicated interest in how Purley and surrounding areas can protect themselves from future flooding.

His expertise in flood prevention has led to a seat on the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee.  This work is so well-regarded in technical and official circles that much of it has now become a benchmark for flood prevention work nationwide.

“The PWRA owes a huge debt to Tarsem Flora for his drive and vision over the last 41 years.  The Association is grateful that Tarsem will continue to advise on planning issues, an area where his expertise is invaluable”, comments Phil Reed, PWRA Chairman elect.
