Release begins: Building a supportive one to one friendship with a young person who is in care can make a huge difference for them. You could be that difference. Independent Visitors meet regularly with a young person to do activities together, talk, be supportive and have fun. This might be a trip to the cinema or bowling, a day out in London or just a tea and a chat. Independent Visitors are matched with a young person for a minimum of 18 months to form strong bonds which can make a huge difference in the life of a young person in care.

Come along and meet us w/c 8th Dec – 14th Window display all week in the Centrale based Croydon Volunteer centre, with popalong lunchtime sessions Mon-Fri to have a no obligation chat about whether this might be for you.

Croydon’s Independent Visitors Team is hoping to recruit volunteers over the coming months to be inducted and trained in the Jan/Feb 2015. We want to recruit volunteers from across Croydon and London, from different backgrounds and with different experiences to meet the needs and interests of the varied young people currently in care in Croydon. Your skills and experiences might make you the perfect person to befriend and support a young person and help them enjoy and achieve in their life. Being an Independent Visitor can be a fulfilling experience for you, and also a great first step toward working with children in a professional context.
