Release begins: SLiDE youth company, including dancers from the Brit School, will perform this July at U.Dance 2017, a four day festival in Birmingham celebrating the best youth dance companies from around the UK.

South London Inclusive Dance Experience (SLiDE) brings disabled and non-disabled people together through dance. The SLiDE youth company, now in its third year, beat off tough competition to gain a place at this prestigious dance festival. “It is amazing that the judges saw our potential and acknowledged our hard work. This is the first time we have participated in a residential dance festival”, commented SLiDE Artistic Director, Gemma Coldicott.

The 14 dancers, 7 with a learning disability, will perform at the Birmingham Hippodrome and receive dance training from companies such as Birmingham Royal Ballet. SLiDE company dancer Jordan Taylor said, “We are looking forward to performing our dance on a big stage and meeting lots of other dancers. Show them what we do!”

Can you help SLiDE get to the festival?

To meet the travel costs between Croydon and Birmingham and to pay chaperones, we are collecting donations here.

Our target is £500 and all funds raised will go straight to the project. For more information, interviews or images, please contact Gemma Coldicott or call 07887 781 361.

Release ends.
