Release begins: Hello Gorgeous has branched out to open its second beauty and photographic studio in Croydon less than two years after being formed by young entrepreneur Ceylan Kioufi.

The 24-year-old has turned her passion into a successful business and the company’s burgeoning reputation in Centrale Shopping Centre has brought a rapid expansion with a second studio in Church Street.

Ceylan has received a little help along the way, her participation in a three-day Introduction to Business course at Croydon Business Venture having led to her being successful in the RBS Inspiring Women programme.

That helped her to take advantage of seven years working with a photographic studio, where she was taken on having started as part of her work experience as a 16-year-old, plus her education at Chelsea University of the Arts where she studied graphic design.

“When I finished university I put my savings into running my own business,” she said. “We offer beauty treatments and makeovers as well as photographic shoots for families, kids and couples.

“Our clients are generally everyday people who are looking to have professional photos taken. We have been really busy which is why we have expanded to have another studio.”

She has attracted new business by creating a ‘Hello Gorgeous Studios’ app featuring all prices, offers and loyalty cards.

All customers receive a cocktail with their services and if they download the app they can download a £5 voucher redeemable off any beauty treatment or get a special offer of a family shootout for £25 – including an A4 print.

On the company’s rapid expansion she added: “It has been a non-stop so I’ve not had time to appreciate it. It may be a struggle but hopefully it will work out well in the end.

“We already have 15 staff so it has grown quite quickly.”

Ceylan believes the insight gained from the Croydon Business Venture course at Weatherill House Business Centre has stood her in good stead.

“I have recommended the Introduction to Business course to other people starting up,” she said.

“It was good to get an overall view of how things worked. I didn’t know anything about VAT, tax and that type of thing and it was also good to meet other people in a similar situation.

“It was there that I was recommended into entering the RBS Inspiring Women programme. That has worked out well because I was offered a mentor, which enabled me to get help with creating a business plan, as well as a grant of £1,000 towards software.”
