Croydon’s cyclists challenged to give e-bikes a try

By - Monday 16th February, 2015

Cyclists who think that electric bikes are ‘cheating’ are being challenged by Coulsdon’s Cycling Made Easy group to try an electric mountain bike at an open day on the 21st February at its showroom between 10am and 2pm.

Release begins: Participants at the event can test out different models of electric mountain bike on the green spaces of Coulsdon. The Metropolitan Police, in conjunction with Bike Register, will be in attendance to security-mark and register bikes at the showroom as well.  The demo rides and the security marking are free of charge.

Neil Ridulfa of Cycling Made Easy explains:

“We have lots of curious cyclists visiting the showroom. A few of them will say having pedal-assistance is ‘cheating’. Some are even horrified at the suggestion that they should get one.

However, an e-bike is just like an exercise bike at the gym. You dial up or dial down the power depending on whether you want a light or heavy workout, or whether you want to do cardio work or resistance training. They’re better than an exercise bike at the gym because you can explore the Great Outdoors on one.

Our e-bike survey even showed that e-bike owners cycle more than they did on conventional bikes.*”

Anyone interested in electric bikes or those who remain sceptical about them are invited to this open day.

A representative of the major sports brand SCOTT SPORTS will be on hand to answer any technical questions.
