South Norwood’s indie cinema is expanding its programme of independent and mainstream releases

Release begins:

From September 2018, Screen25 in South Norwood is doubling its screenings, offering the latest independent and mainstream releases on both Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Supported by nearly 30 volunteers and continuing at their new home at Harris Academy South Norwood, this expansion will launch on Friday 7 September with a party to complement a screening of Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird. The party will be in partnership with feminist film festival, the Bechdel Test Fest, with music being provided by West Norwood’s Bechdel Sound Test to set the party mood.

Screen25’s events regularly include Q&A’s, audience roundtables and panel discussions. Both evening events will feature a pop-up café/bar stocked with recently partnered ethical and local suppliers such as Eli & Pie and Signal Brewery.

Screen25 have decided to launch their additional screenings in order to give the local community more choice when it comes to a good night out in South Norwood. Catriona Mahmoud, the cinema’s newly appointed Marketing Manager, says “We’re excited about expanding and these new changes will certainly help the cinema to be more accessible to an even wider audience. More screenings means an even more diverse film programme – there really is something for everyone!”

As part of a drive to offer affordable access to cinema for local residents, the cinema will provide a range of loyalty options, including a loyalty card scheme where audiences can claim a free ticket after a certain number of visits.

More information and listings can be found here. Full price tickets cost £8.50, with a concessionary options available for OAPs, students and under 25s. Tickets can be purchased on the door (pending availability) or online.
