South London Jobs Fair to create opportunities for local businesses and generate employment

South London Jobs Fair aims to boost local businesses and help job seekers. To be held at Fairfield Halls Croydon on Tuesday 21st October, it will bring together housing associations and local councils offering work and training opportunities, and applicants who will have the opportunity to learn about winning public sector contracts and organisations.

Release begins: South London Jobs Fair is back to help local businesses and job seekers, supported by housing associations and local councils.

The Jobs Fair creates a boost to local businesses by offering them an opportunity to learn about winning contracts in the public sector and to network with housing associations. Orbit housing association are among the first to sign up to ensure their residents can take advantage of the opportunities.

Unemployed local residents will be able to access jobs with a range of employers, as well as training and work experience opportunities. At the previous South London Jobs Fair in 2012, over 600 employment opportunities were available to the residents of 14 housing associations.

The jobs fair is run by South London-based social enterprise 3D Change who have also built the innovative Launch for Jobs online portal. Launch for Jobs connects job seekers to job vacancies all year around. The portal also helps residents to become job-ready by providing training and work experience opportunities with employers.

Jobs will be in a range of industries and will include suppliers to the housing associations, local small and medium sized business and major companies. The jobs fair also provides a great opportunity for local businesses to learn about the opportunities available to work with housing associations and the public sector.

The South London Jobs Fair 2014 which will be held at Fairfield Halls in Croydon on 21 October. Residents who would like to attend the jobs fair or benefit from the job brokerage service should speak to their housing association.

The previous South London Jobs Fair in 2012 organised by 3D Change was attended by over 2,000 job seekers, fourteen housing associations and a large number of employers. 600 job opportunities were created and filled.

Set up by Moira Skinner in 2007, 3D Change are a registered social enterprise, reinvesting a percentage of their profits back into the community for development purposes.

Specialising in jobs fairs driven by a passion to get people into employment, 3D Change are now taking a significant step forward in their efforts to get people into work by creating the Launch for Jobs online brokerage tool.

In addition to the South London Jobs Fair, 3D Change have run successful jobs fairs in Brighton where over 2,000 opportunities were brought to the table.
