TURF Projects, the Croydon art collective previously best known for its innovative art installation-cum-crazy-golf course, opens a new gallery and workspace in Croydon town centre.

Release begins: Celebrate the launch of Turf’s new Gallery & Workspace, and join us for the launch of this inaugural exhibition. Tru Luv will challenge the value of love in contemporary art and discuss the ethical questions raised by displaying the intimate.

The works in the exhibition have each been fuelled by love, whether that be affectionate, familial, religious or romantic love. Although not necessarily conspicuous, this undercurrent is unashamedly present. This expression of love may come via fear, neurosis or longing – the results often appearing guttural rather than saccharine.

Tru Luv extends to the offsite artwork, Ti Amo, by Josh Whitaker, located at College Green and a commissioned exhibition text Who Cares? written by Alex Brenchley

Turf has produced a series of limited edition silkscreen prints and the publication In Close Up by John Messenbird to coincide with the exhibition. These are available to purchase, with all profits going towards Turf’s future programme.

The exhibition will include a programme of educational events, workshops & talks. For more information on these please enquire at the gallery or visit our website.

Turf Projects would like to thank the Mayor of London, Arts Council England & Centrale Shopping Centre Croydon for their kind support.

TURF PROJECTS, Keeley Road, Croydon, CR0 1TF, open Tuesday – Saturday 11:00am – 17:00pm (during exhibitions) and by appointment.

Release ends.

Release sender: TURF projects.
