Jonny Rose unveils a first glimpse at #Croydon #TechCity’s triumphant return after its summer recess

After a two-month summer recess, Croydon Tech City is back on the scene and reconvening at Matthews Yard to start a new season of tech demos, talks, and shenanigans, as we continue to make Croydon a credible player in the European startup scene.

Don’t forget to sign up as ‘attending’ on the Facebook event page for Croydon Tech City’s 2013 Autumn launch event on Thursday 19th September 7:30pm at Matthews Yard, Croydon.

Russell Buckley – Special Advisor, UK Govt. Venture Capital Unit

Russell Buckley, former MD of AdMob (acquired by Google for $750m) is often described as “the Godfather of Mobile Advertising”

As a serial entrepreneur-turned-investor, Russell made his name as the first employee and MD of AdMob (later acquired by Google for $750 million) for which he is popularly recognised as the ‘Godfather of Mobile Advertising’. Russell is currently a Partner at Ballpark Ventures which has an investment portfolio of around 25 companies.

In his capacity as Special Advisor and part of the UK Government Venture Capital Unity, Russell will be speaking on tech ecosystems (like Croydon’s) and how they can revitalise local economies and culture.

Matt Kepple – Founder, Makerble “How I became a tech entrepreneur”

Matt Kepple is a young Croydonian whose tech product – Makerble –  gives people a personalised view of what their charitable donations achieve. Charities regularly lack necessary funds to achieve the level of impact they want to achieve, and it is very hard for donors to fully appreciate the impact that a specific donation will achieve. Makerble increases net donations to UK charities by highlighting where their money goes and quantifying the impact it makes, ‘rewarding’ those who donate by increasing their ‘Change’ points, while making donations to charities more accessible.
