Stefan Kiryazov is behind Lexicum:  a team of passionate individuals who want to help the 1.5 billion learners around the world with mastering foreign language vocabulary.

Language education is a huge market – more than $40 billion for English alone – yet most of this is spent on paper textbooks and tuition. Digital tools are proving massively successful and Lexicum provides a cheap tool specifically for building vocabulary that plugs into virtually any approach to learning languages.

Stefan has recently finished a fund-raising tour in Silicon Valley and will be sharing fresh insights on what it takes to raise funding and do business development in the education sector.

Michael Willmot (Co-founder of Knodium)

Enabling students and lecturers to collaborate on assignments

Knodium is collaboration tool that allows anyone at university to create and join communities based on their courses, project work, study groups or even just common interests.

Despite all the advancements in educational technology, Knodium co-founder and CEO Michael Willmott still felt that there was a gap that technology wasn’t fixing. Stuck on a piece of work at 1am, he realised that there was no decent way to reach out into his network of peers, or even into a broader network of people studying in his field. The idea behind Knodium grew from there.

And hear more from the Croydon Tech City team on its 2015 education strategy for the borough!

To attend the Croydon Tech City education special on Thursday 19th February at 7:30pm at 3Space (5th Floor, Southern House), please register here.
