ANNOUNCEMENT: Special Advisor, UK Government Venture Capital Unit to keynote #Croydon #TechCity in September

By - Friday 30th August, 2013

It is my great pleasure to announce that Russell Buckley (Special Advisor, UK Government Venture Capital Unit) has agreed to keynote Croydon Tech City’s Autumn Launch event on Thurs 19th September 7:30pm at Matthews Yard, Croydon.

As a serial entrepreneur-turned-investor, Russell made his name as the first employee and MD of AdMob (later acquired by Google for $750 million) for which he is popularly recognised as the ‘Godfather of Mobile Advertising’. Russell is currently a Partner at Ballpark Ventures which has an investment portfolio of around 25 companies.

Russell’s personal mission is ” to spend the next 10 years helping the UK to become a world class part of the tech scene and one which regularly produces mega-successes like the next Twitter, the next Facebook or the next Amazon”, and it is exciting to know that Croydon Tech City will be a part of this.

Earlier this year, Russell joined the government’s Venture Capital Unit, which was launched in 2012 to UK companies to attract funding from outside the UK, and address the funding capacity gap which can benefit early and relatively start-up status businesses.

In light of an exceptional first six months for Croydon Tech City - which has seen the borough make its first steps to becoming a credible player in the European startup scene – there is no better person than Russell to launch our Autumn programme.

As well as Russell’s keynote, the night will also include presentations from the Croydon Tech City team and demos from local tech startups.

Don’t forget to sign up as ‘attending’ on the Facebook event page for Croydon Tech City’s 2013 Autumn launch event on Thurs 19th September 7:30pm at Matthews Yard, Croydon.

For further information about the night or any queries, please .
