EVENT: #Croydon #TechCity – Thurs April 25th 7.30pm @MatthewsYard

By - Wednesday 17th April, 2013

After the Q&A Tech Panel last month, Croydon Tech City is returning to a more traditional format with local tech startup founders talking about the highs and lows of growing startup tech companies…

Paul Barnett: The uni bedroom startup that now makes over £3million/yr

A decade ago, Paul Barnett was embarking upon an engineering degree at university.

Soon, he and a coursemate would realise there was more money (and fun) to be had in the new world of the late 90s dotcom boom – IC UK was born.

In this session, Paul will explain how he initially spotted the opportunity to make money from internet dial-up minutes and and how how the Purley-based  business has gone on to gain clients such as Citrix and Coca-Cola.

Sooqini – South London and the Sharing Economy

Raj Singh, Sooqini – Founder and CEO (left) will be be speaking on Thurs 25th

Sooqini describes itself as “London’s buyer-driven taks marketplace”. In simple terms, Sooqini allows you to outsource tasks and services to trusted local people as well as make money by helping others. Save time and money by setting your own terms. Make money by doing jobs around your schedule. Want someone to do your dry cleaning? A tutor? Someone to take classnotes for you? Teach you how to use twitter? You can get it all on Sooqini!

With over 14,000 users and growing, founder, Raj Singh, and Scott Collen will take us through the principles of the ‘Sharing economy’ and how Sooqini hopes to capitalise on it in South London and further afield!

DEMO: Help My Cause

Help My Cause is a simple platform to assist raising funds for an idea, project, or charity which has the potential to one day rival Kickstarter.

Jude Joseph, the creator of Help My Cause, will take us through how he initially got the idea for the platform, the projects it has supported to so far, and how he intends to grow the business in the coming year!

And much, much more!…
