On Saturday 23rd July a free festival of live street art by twenty-five artists will be held in the Croydon arts quarter. But it’s like no previous street art event that Croydon has seen: this one will celebrate the Croydon music scene past and present. It features flashback DJs and live music, and will create murals paying tribute to the musicians of Croydon.

Croydon is famous for its street art. The twenty-five artists on the line-up will start at 9am and spend the day interpreting the theme of Croydon music with murals on hoardings and shutters of St George’s Walk. The challenge will be to complete work paying tribute to the likes of Stormzy and Nadia Rose by sunset the same day. Local musicians will also be performing throughout the day, bringing life and energy into the St George’s walk precinct.

Mr Doodle  and James Oliver will be coming back to Croydon just before the main the event. Mr Doodle will be creating his biggest mural for Croydon and both artists will be provide a welcome teaser of what to expect on the festival day. Only the artists know what and who they will be painting on the day so it will not only be a great chance to see this revealed, but to watch the varying techniques and styles of some of the greatest street artists in the world, all in action in one place for one day alongside some of Croydon’s best independent singers and bands.

Street photographer, 1st of the Frohicans and Croydon's No.1 fan according to my parents. I graduated in Transport Design at Coventry University summer 2012 and made my way back to the town I love to continue working on my Croydon facebook page. I eventually met some of the other local creatives with the same enthusiasm and soon knew it was my mission to engage with and hopefully help to get the word out about the creative potential and future of Croydon.
