Surrey Street Treats: Honey mangorita

Combine Surrey Street Market’s exotic Ataúlfo mangoes with a couple of shots from the drinks cabinet to give your margarita a twist


The honey mango, or Ataúlfo mango, is smaller and much richer than the typical mango that we’re used to seeing on Surrey Street.

Right now these honey mangoes can be found on many stalls in the market at a great price. Originating in Mexico, these fruits have a deep yellow flesh and are super-sweet and full of vitamin C, so you can feel less guilty when you mix it with tequila and cointreau to make this fabulous honey mangorita cocktail!

The cocktail: Honey mangorita.

Ingredients from the market:

1 whole honey mango

1/2 lime

Ingredients from the drinks cabinet:

50ml silver or reposado tequila (Patron is perfect for this drink)

25ml cointreau (or triple sec works equally well)

Method:

Prepare your glass with a salt rim. Combine all of ingredients in a blender until smooth, then pour and serve.

    Sounds delicious, although few of us would stock tequila or cointreau in our drinks cabinet!
